Up early and had breakfast and then set off to the Timanfaya National Park. On the way we passed the Camel Tour centre and then onto the National park. The park can only be seen on the set coach tours, private cars are not allowed to tour around the volcanos. The car park was quite full when we arrived but didn’t have to wait long for a seat on a coach. We had to take photos through the windows as we were not allowed out when the coach stopped at the various points around the roadway.

Once we got back to the visitor centre there where various demonstrations using the heat from the volcano, such as putting brushwood in a hole in the ground for it instantly catch fire. The reason for this effect is that 30 metres down, the temperature is around 300°C and the gravel on top of the ground is quite warm to the touch.

The restaurant is called El Diablo and has a volcanic cooker, a wire grill over a hole in the ground where they cook chickens and baked potatoes for the guests. The restaurant was not open whilst we were there as we were too early for lunch so we decided to drive out of the park and head to Club La Santa and Sóo.

We passed through Mancha Blanca and stopped to take some photos of the village and surrounding countryside. Club la Santa was a bit disappointing so we headed to La Caleta and stopped for a pizza lunch. After lunch we headed down the coast to Playa de Famara where the sand dunes have some nice patterns and several people were surfing.

On the way back to the villa, we stopped off at San Bartolomé which had a nice church with a clock tower and fountain (which was being cleaned) and also a large nativity scene. Once home, we shot another beautiful sunset.
