<Day 2 Previous Page ____________ Day 4 Next Page>
We got up early to photograph the sunrise from in front of the Hotels where we walked last night. After the sunrise we returned to the villa for breakfast and then on the roads again to Playa de Papagayo. The tarmac road gives way to dirt road once you leave Playa Blanca. Playa de Papagayo is part of the Monumento Natural de Los Ajaches, an area in the very south of Lanzarote consisting of volcanic plains.
When we arrived at Playa de Papagayo, we walked along the cliff top stopping to take photos of the beautiful bays with blue water. Safe swimming areas are marked with buoys. There are several cliff top paths and we ended up at the very end of the bay.
We drove back to Playa Blanca for lunch and then back out to Los Hervideros to get some afternoon light on the sea caves. There were a lot of people there as several coaches were parked in the car park. The setting sun caused long shadows of the people walking along the cliff path, which made photography difficult.
On the way back to Playa Blanca, we stopped off at Salinas de Janubio where sea water is trapped in pans and when the water evaporates, the salt is left and collected.
