We got out early to beat the rush of coach parties that visit popular places. We headed first to the coast at Los Hervideros with its rugged volcanic coastline and sea caves. We found that you could purchase volcanic stone at €2.00 each (to be deposited in a locked honesty box). The cliffs have dedicated paths to allow the tourist to walk around the coast in safety. There is even a lookout platform built into the cliff about 3/4 of the way up the rock face.

As soon as the first coaches started to arrive, we drove further up the coast to El Golfo and ventured around the cliff tops to the famous Green Lagoon. We encountered some lava arches along the path, where the softer sand and lava has been eroded over time to leave arches.

On the journey back to the villa we passed Montaña Colorada, which is a large extinct volcano and part of the Timanfaya National Park. Once we got home we sat under the shade and created a picture to send back home as our Christmas Card.

In the evening we walked along the coast in front of the two large Hotels which face towards the sea, at the rear of the villa. The Hotel Royal Monica and the Rubicon Palace Hotel, both have nice gardens and cactus plants. Once we had walked around the headland we photographed the sunset over the Playa Blanca Lighthouse.
