Clouds over the mountains
Snow topped mountains
Glacier just visible
A volcanic caldera
Pretty hotel complex in the middle of nowhere!
Rainbow over a lava field
The top of the ‘Secret’ waterfall. Secret because it cannot be seen from the side of the road. After pulling in at an observation point, you have to walk 500 metres to see the waterfall behind a rocky outcrop.
The full majesty of the ‘Secret’ waterfall
The second level of the waterfall
Another view of the ‘Secret’ waterfall
The lake which the waterfall drains into
Rock ‘Troll’, guardian of the road
A splash of Autumn colour on an otherwise barren landscape
Snow topped mountains in the distance
Ominous clouds over the mountain tops
Lava and mountains
The road winding up to the mountains with a lava boulder pushing up from the ground
Stormy clouds over a small lake
Reflections of the clouds and blue skies in a calm lake
More snow topped mountains
Sweeping curve of a lake shore
The sun shining on the cliffs opposite
Water and mountains, typical Icelandic scene
Very pointed mountains probably extinct volcanos
This rainbow is showing at the edge of some falling rain. A strange effect we had not seen before
Our first view of the Snæfellsjökull glacier. When we came last year it was always in the clouds.
