Day 5, 4th August we left our hotel at Half Moon Bay and travelled towards Monterey and the Monterey Tides Hotel via a town called Pacifica.

The town of Pacifica. This is the Statue of Captain Don Gasar De Portola, a Catalonian Spainiard, who was the first Governor of California and founder of San Diego. He also discovered the bay of San Francisico in November 1769.

The building, was originally built as U.S. military triangulation station and observation site used during WWII to defend San Francisco Bay. It is accessed via the “Devil’s Slide Coastal Trail”
